Bariatric Advantage® Calcium Citrate Chewy Bite 500 is specially formulated for metabolic and bariatric patients. The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) guidelines¹ call for 1,200-1,500 mg of calcium per day for most metabolic and bariatric surgery patients except biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD-DS) patients, for whom the recommendation is 1,800-2,400 mg per day.¹

Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate Chewy Bite 500 mg is specially formulated for bariatric patients, utilizing 500 mg calcium from only calcium citrate and delivering 500 IU of vitamin D₃ to support calcium absorption. Available in delicious flavors like Chocolate, Caramel, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Tropical Orange, Strawberry, Lemon, Raspberry, Coconut, Pineapple Mango, Assorted Fruit & Assorted Sweet Flavors. Sugar-free. Individually wrapped.

Calcium citrate is more bioavailable than some other forms of calcium, and is recommended for bariatric patients.¹ It can be taken any time of the day, with or without food while other forms of calcium need to be taken with food for absorption. Additionally, calcium citrate may be more easily absorbed by patients who have had bariatric procedures that result in reduced stomach acids, as it does not require stomach acids for absorption.¹ Calcium requires vitamin D₃ for absorption.

ASMBS guidelines call for 1,200-1,500 mg calcium per day for patients most bariatric procedure types, with the exception of Biliopancreatic Diversion Duodenal Switch (BPD-DS) patients, where they call for 1,800-2,400 mg per day.² Divided doses are recommended with no more than 500 mg being consumed at once.

hard , dryer "chews" and not much caramel flavor

I've used these calcium supplements, (caramel flavor) for over 4 years. They use to be more like a candy "chew", soft and very flavorful. This past year I've had the bag replaced because they were too hard and very odd flavor. The next order they sent was better than the returned bag (moister chew) however they have been progressively worse, dryer and more plastic tasting. In contrast, I also take the multi-vitamin chews that are very chewy, moist and full of variety of flavors. I've complained before, but it's obvious they have changed the calcium chew recipe and dryer, harder chews is what they have decided to sell. If a soft, flavorful caramel calcium supplement chew is what you are looking for, I'd try another brand.

I've been taking these for over a year now and I love them, they don't leave an aftertaste and it satisfies my sweet craving. I would recommend these to those who are not sure what to take or can't take the pill you swallow.
